Wassup blud! Yu get me?

I was at work yesterday & a friend of mine was reading an article about the fact that those under 16 represent a 1/3 of victims of crime, although they're not counted in the actual statistics. Anyway, they started to discuss a program on BBC on Sunday of a documentary on a Juvenile Institute in London.

They were discussing the slang terms used, and stated that some of them were used way too often, and its possible that those watching the program would not understand it. I'm not much of a slang user.. only when it comes to Craig Davids, but I thought I'd give out a list of some that I know and others that I learned.

Boo!

A way of applauding someone contrary to its more conventional meaning.

Blood / Blud

Friend, acquaintance. Sometimes used loosely for those of similar race.

Baller

1. Someone who plays basketball quite well.
2. Someone who has established a high reputation in the area and is good with the ladies.

Buff

Very attractive in the looks department.

Bling bling

Referring to jewellery made of expensive shiny material like gold, silver, platinum, diamond etc.

Boxed

Physically beaten. Ie.
"Man, you're lookin to get boxed!"

Innit doh?

Isn't it so?

Is it?

Oh, really?

Jacked

Referring to an item that was stolen. I.e
"Mah fone was jacked, man!"

Dark

Brilliant, good etc.

Craig David

WANKER!

Manor

The area where you live

Messy

Wicked, brilliant etc.

Playa

One that is good with the women. Usually dates more than one at the same time

Posse

Group of people you hang out with

Massive

Same as above, but more of a gang of people living in the same area like 'Hendon Massive!'.

Safe

Thats good

Butters

Unattractive

You get me?

Do you understand?

Safe- in GH it presently means bye and the guys AND girls say it, i guess it is derived from stay safe ... so safe y'all

Yep, the meaning of both the words you mentioned varies.

Buff - the muscular, ribbed kind, is epitome of a good looking man in society, hence attractive.

Safe is sometimes used as a goodbye gesture I suppose, but not that often in London..

In Manchester Safe means someone is ok to know, they're sound (cool) we dont really use safe to say goodbye, we normally say 'one' for goodbye, or jus byeeeeeeeeeeee! LOL
