The Week That I Missed

I'd booked my tickets for the train the previous two weeks. The countdown was killing me. Abe had found these cheap off-peak tickets on the midlands trains for only £10 return. The countdown was killing us, but somehow that never made it onto the site cos there really was no need to. The idea was to maximise my stay this time. Not like the previous tie when the weekend had passed too quickly.

The ticket was booked for 27th November at 10pm. I was s'posed to be working on that day up till 9pm in High Barnet, which wouldnt have given me time to get to St. Pancras Station. The plan was to feign an illness of some sort at 8pm and leave work an hour earlier to give me ample time to make it there. Turned out i didnt have to afterall since i lost that telesales job due to circumstances i might go inot later on the Monday before.

So there's me spending all of Monday, Tuesday and the most part of Wednesday looking forward to going to Nottingham again. It stuck up on me too cos before i knew i was leaving and i didnt really have much time to tell you guys. Anyway, i didnt have much time spare to update the site anyway. And with good reason too! Plus, you'da noticed my site was "put on hold" for a while due to my bandwidth limit being reached. I'm getting too populer for my own good.

Anyway here's a break down of the whole week. If there are any obvious gaps in there, you know what fill it in with ;-)

Ripoff-Style

What's with people not bothering to create their own designs? This site by a greek guy called Mike Spanakis looks eerily too similar to Ryan's GoateeStyle I'll go bonkers if someone nicks any of my designs. It really is hardwork when you have a only a blank page infront of you to start with.

She's Gone

My sis, Adelaide, left for Ghana yesterday. I mentioned here, there, and here.

She left with Abena, my youngest niece (not Abeyna). They're gonna be away for 5months. I spent most of the day before helping her pack... and of course sleeping.

I've already re-arranged the house like it all belongs to me. Of course my mum is having none of it and keeps dumping the junk back in. We'll see with time...

Fast-Forward to the Future

...the women who rule the mightiest nations on Earth - America, Europe and China - ended a critical summit in Geneva yesterday with agreement on an eight-point plan to restore economic and environmental stability against a backdrop of gathering global crises.

Chelsea Clinton, the US president, warned that environmental catastrophe was now the most serious threat to world prosperity... [more]

No... you're not misreading. That's an excerpt from one of the many news articles from The Chronicle of the Futureby The Sunday Times. The site was set up in 1999 and tries to predict news items between 2000 and 2050. It's kindda funny though cos some of the predictions have already been proved wrong. Like the one about Christopher Reeve walking on 25.Mar.2002. They've predicted when some celebrities are gonna die though... let's wait and see.

Gallery Update

I havent blogged in 5 days. Well I've been lazing around most of the time. Not really. I've been job hunting some of the time. Getting and early xmas from Abe some of the time and been reading, Executive Orders by Tom Clancy, some of the time.

I've been online only for a little while during the past week but i've spent most of today adding some new pictures to the album. Some albums from Spring/Summer 2002 and some pics from Thursday with me and Abe travelling all over London. Just go take a look at the gallery.

You can comment on a picture by clicking on it. Also pictures with a red asterix (*) by it means there's a comment. IPs are logged so people that talk about big boobs arent really THAT anonymous, not to mention any names, Dooby.

Note: Odobea says to remind you guys that the last icone in the "about me" section of the left sidebar takes you to the gallery. Word!>p? UPDATE: I know i'm the one that normally does the runnig commentary but this time Abe has beaten me to it. [not that i was gonna do it this time anyway]. Well you better hop on there to find out for urself.

Insomniacs Anonymous

Couldnt sleep lastnite. Normally when i'm up at 4am it's b'cos i'm catching up on plugins for MT or helping other MT users out in the support forum. Not lastnite (or this morning?). I just couldnt sleep.

So i decided to make a few calls. Now the only people who wouldnt mind me calling at time time would be those across the pond. So i drew out a list: Marian "Slew", Kuorkor "brownAangel" and Ewurama "Bubblebutt" & Odobea "Doobs" (see, they live together)... not necessarily in that order.

Marian wasnt answering. As has been the case for the past week or two. I hope u're alright Slew. Just anytime... whenever you're available, I'll be around.

Brownie, or Kourks as i like to refer to her in my mind picked her fone and after the usual hellos told me she was going to Ghana this evening. Wow. She's never mentioned it b4 even though she's been online sometime during these past few days. Oh and she's staying for at least 5weeks! Is that awesome or what?! Well maybe she'll get pictures of Ghana @ X'mas and send some here. We talked some more about nothing (well i cant remember) and i wished her a safe journey.

Then i called Doobs & Bubu. They've a new number; 555-242-6764. See it's sposed to be unlisted. I heard this message telling me the above. Then something about not accepting calls with ID withheld. And that if i was a "solicitor", to hang up immediately... and if not, to enter my 10digit fone number. So i entered a random set of numbers and my call was routed to her. So much for call policing eh?

Anyway, even tho i called Bubu, Doobs took over and decided to hog the fone. We talked for close to 20mins. (or na lie?) During which time i got to learn that she DOES lie of her blog Can you believe that?! Despicable. So i coined a new wrod for them peoples. Blog-liars. I also found out she's a 'siano. Short for Kumasiano (ie. someone from Kumasi, Ghana). Though of course that might be another lie.

I finally got to talk to Bubu for a while during which time i mentioned the fibs Doobs had told. She replied; "Oh! She's been a bad bad girl! I'm gonna punish her! Spank her! Grrrrr!". Ok ok... i admiteddly led her on to say that... and i'll confess to the little crime of garnishing it... but she almst said the above sentence... give or take 15 or so words.

Anyway, I'm having a late breakfast with Abeyna. It's already 11am and she'll be here anytime soon. So yeah i'm taking the rest of the day off people.

And No. She hasnt been a bad bad girl. Not yet anyway. [UPDATE: phone numbers have been further changed cos it looked too similar to the real number even with the 555 prefix]

Just For The Sake of Protesting...

These days you get people to protest about anything. Funny thing though is that it's... no it's not funny at all when you think about it... they're just idiots. This site is protesting about the name of the second installment of the Lord of the Rings movies, The Two Towers.

I dunno why people want to think of the 11/9 attacks as being the worst thing that ever happened in the world. At the risk of pissing of Emerald again... i'll say that IT is so not. And people should stop trying to change the world around them just because of that. Tolkien wroote his books way back and named it The Two Towers. The decision to make these books into movies i'm sure must've been some time in planing... say 4years? So someone somewhere wants the name of the movie changed so they'll feel better? To show "increased sensitivity towards the events of Sept 11th"? And what good is that gonna do anyone? It's just silly, stupid and just plain taking it too far. It's like, as the British say, taking the piss!

Why dont you just let things be so people can get on with thier lives? It's bothering on annoying now! It's not great conversation anymore to make references to that day.

Talking about that draws my mind to what been going on in the UK. There these people that make it thier job to report adverts on TV and billboards as offensive whenever they're bored. What the fuck's up with that?!

It's so happens that there's this ad on TV... say everyone esle likes it or cant be bothered about it... And you get these 100 losers with nothing to do calling up and saying something like "So why is that only when the black guy appears he morphs into a T-Rex? Are you being racist?" It's a flipping advert for fucks sake!! Why do people have to protest about everything? huh? huh? huh? why? <sigh> Does it mean that the remaining 5million or so people who like the advert have to actually call in to the advertising watchdog and say "Oh! I love that advert" or "Umm... I cant be arsed about that advert. I didnt even notice it."? Well... i guess you'll get people to protest about anything.

Ho, Ho, Holy Night

Merry Christmas everyone, and especially to Faf , my host. It's Fri. night, and I'm writing under the influence of a couple of wines. Hope this doesm't upset Faf :).

They say alcohol brings out your true feelings. Well, here goes. Does anyone like my title? Jesus vs Santa, is my theme. I being a Christian believe "Jesus is the reason for the season". I am also a giver of Christmas gifts and believe Santa should exist and did exist as St. Nicholas - a deliverer to the poor and needy, particularly children.

Some might say the idea of gift giving came from the three wise men giving gifts to Jesus in the manger, others may say it stemmed fron St. Nicholas and his kindness to those less fortunate. Either way, it has a religious background. Wish we could all remember that. The greatest gifts were the least. Those gifts given from the heart, not elaborate in any way.

Commercialism has overtaken many. The biggest, the best, the most expensive gifts are sought and revered. Greed, and threat of appearing "cheap" have taken the place of the true joy of giving from your heart and within your means.

If you celebrate Christmas, let us remember Christ and St. Nicholas were not adversaries, but had a common theme. Give from your heart to those in need, and let the Spirit guide you, when extending that to those you love when you simply want the joy of giving and realize that it need not be the best or the biggest, or the most expensive to have meaning. "It's the thought that counts", and CHRISTmas should bring thoughts of Christ first, St. Nicholas and the "thoughts" they conveyed by word and deeds...love and friendship. They have no price tag.

"I pray thee God, kill that Muthafucka"

So this friend of my mum's. He's Ghanaian and has been living in the UK for i guess close to ten years. He's been working his butt off and saving money. Invested some into a printing press back in Ghana. Coupla months ago, he decided to invest some more money in some new machines.

So he takes out a £12,000 loan and buys the machines. After shipping them he realises they arent compatible with those he already has. He did the logical thing and tried to flog the new ones and get his money back. Anyway... all this while his eldest son has been managing the press.

It was up to him to sell the machines... he did that alright.. but the money never made it out of his pocket. He's absconded to somewhere in the US with over £18000. Now THAT's evil!

Anyway... the man was praying this morning... and i heard him invoke God's wrath on his son. I woulda quoted him but he prayed in Twi so the closest i could get to a quote is the title of this post.

I told my mum he probably has to put him on suicide watch or something. It's crazy. Sometimes i'm scared he's gonna snap and pick up a knife or something. Advice for the son though.. if he ever gets to read this; Dont ever, ever come back. That prodigal son shit wont work in this case.

Anyway, when i'm not eavesdropping on people's conversations with their gods... i've been at the launderette washing all the quilts in my house. It'll smell better now.

Slutty Braid Girl

I don't know if I can be bothered with this entry now. I wrote it earlier this morning, and evidently it didn't save. Everything took so damn long to load, because I was trying to upload some images, and I eventually gave up, although I saved the entry, it doesn't seem that it has been saved.

Basic jist of this entry is to say that in reponse to my extensions falling out all the time (as it seems), my mum mentioned that she didn't really like my hair as it was now. It looks 'slutty' and that short hair suits me best.

I disagree. I hated having short hair, hence wore a scarf for the majority of the time... Why don't you decide for yourselves?

Short hair Long hair
Bear in mind, the pic of me with short hair is comparitively good to what I usually look like with short hair most of the time.

Oh, and just to mention that Faf is charging me for every time I say 'Kofi' in a puppy-dog voice. At the moment I owe him about 50p.

Fitter, happier, more productive

What happens when one of the most read London blogs is taken down? Mo talks you through what's happened to him the past two years and does so 22 paragraphs. The shocking news though is that, he's taken the site down. He's more or less giving up on the computer...
"For me, happiness can no longer be found at a computer screen. I don't need my name on an office door - these days that same name is associated with quality work, and that is far more rewarding. I've almost totally lost interested in crunching numbers. I have a totally new life. Fitter, happier, more productive."
