Naughty Naughty

You'da thought at 22 i would've grown out of things like this but here goes:

There's some traffic lights recently installed in front of the Tottnehma Police Station. This what i use when i'm coming from from anywhere.

Now I read somewhere that those buttons that pedestrians press so the lights turn green for them to cross dont actually work. An it's supposed to stop people from becoming impatient and trying to run across the road. Well the ones in fron og the police station is proff that this is not always so.

I know that within 10 seconds of me pressing the button, the lights will turn green for me to cross. Unless of course they'd just turned green for the cars.

Anyway... sometimes what happens is that sometimes when i get to lights the nearest car is not actually anywhere near so i cros without pressing the button. Then when i get to the other site i press it.

Mean! So the drivers get there and this thing has turn red for them even thought it's supposed to be on green since no one is actually waiting to cross. They cant figure it out. A bit annoying. Some drivers have actually spotted me doing this.

Anyway... is this a crime of some sort? Cos i'm doing this right in front of the police station. Worse still, i dont discriminate in favor of buses. Sorry...

I know i should probably stop but it's so much fun. Or maybe it shows how bored/tired i am coming back from work and/or Uni.

In some seemingly unrelated news, the "V" key on my keyboard is a bit stiff. Talk about karmic justice.

Nieces: One In, One Out

Sorry for not telling sooner and instead warbling on about traffic lights and such but as on 16 days ago I'm a new uncle AGAIN.

My new Niece Nana Pokua Opoku was born on the 30th of April on the same day as her big sis Abena Agyiewaa Poku. She was named after her granma (my mom) hence Nana Pokua.

So right now i got 6 nieces. My sis, it seems started late but has jumped into the lead with 3 in 5 years. Good thing then that I got another 10 years before i start making mine.

Anyway... as y'all might know form past entries, my sis came back from Ghana to get some surgery done on Agyeiwaa's eyes. That's all done now even though she refuses to wear her glasses. She prefers to break 'em if u wanna know!!

Chris, my sister's husband came from Ghana to see the new baby and went thru Dubai but will be returning to London. Agyeiwaa will be going with him to Ghana to allow my sis to rest.

She really quite a handful. She only adorable when she wants to (pictures below). Other times she breaks my things. Pushes the buttons at the front on my comp. She goes for the power button mostly, thank god! (she needs to hold it down for it to work). Anyway... that's just me talking.. for her mom though she's more than "quite a handful".

I think she's jealous of her new sister but only a bit. She likes to play with her but when the baby, as expected of a 16 day old baby, doesnt play back then Agyeiwaa gets agitated.

Anyway.... enough talk. Some Pics (click to enlarge)

Nana Pokua; 2 or 3 days old here; Apparently new babies are supposed to lose weight the first few days. She gained some.

Agyeiwaa: In her birthday clothes. She shares the same birthday as her lil' sis (above). Aint she sweet?

Cyber U Cyber Me

I'm always on yahoo messenger. Logged on but set to be invisible to everyone. It mainly because i only use it so i'll get notified when i get an email but i turned invisibility off fora few minutes today and within 5mins i get this conversation out of it: I think it was a human but it could easily be a [ro]bot controlled username. Warning: Adult content. MORE...

Shoutbox-Spam List Manager

For the past few months i like many other Shoutbox users have been getting spam shouts on our boxes. The most annoying thing being links ot porn sites being used as the poster's URL.

Oscar of ofhills.com came up with a solution to reject shouts that have urls that are known to be that of shoutbox-spammers. It is really basic and works just like it's supposed but for requiring one to continuously open up the shoutbox.php file to update it.

Here's an optimised version using the same logic.

I'm calling it the Shoutbox Spam List Manager V 0.2 and will post updates here as well.

Changes/New Features:

1. Two files Added; spam_list_man.php (the spam list manager itself) and spam_man_list.php (contains the list of words used to reject shouts)

2. Edit shoutbox.php only once

3. Add new words to the list

4. Rejects words already on the list

5. Uses the shoutbox admin cookie as authorisation

Installation procedure:

1. Grab this zipped file here: shoutbox_spam_list_managerv0.2.zip

2. Extract the two files from the zipped file (update spam_man_list.php with your own list if you've been using Oscar's solution)

3. Upload the two files into the same folder as shoutbox.php

4. CHMOD spam_man_list.php 666 so it can be written to.

5. Open the file "shoutbox_langpack_english.php" in a text editor. On or about line #31, paste in the following definition.

define("_SPAM_MAN","The URL has been banned.");

6. Open the file "shoutbox.php" in a text editor. Go to around line # 116, and find this:

if (isFlooding() >= 3) {
$error .= _PROCESS_FLOODING;
}

Add a few spaces after that "if" statement so you can paste in another one. Paste this "if" statement after (below) the one above:

include_once ("spam_man_list.php");
if (preg_match ("/$spam_man_list/i", $url)) {
$error = _SPAM_MAN;
}

7. Re-upload shoutbox.php and load up spam_list_man.php in your browser.
(NB: You need to be logged in to your shoutbox first to use this)

The code is not clean and i dont think it's fully optimised but ispent about two hours working on it. I'll look to add an option to delte from the list and a feature to update the list using a "central" list in the future.
