Up the Beanstalk

I started the job in 2002 doing basic data entry into a terminal... Last 2 weeks I got promoted to the Main Projects team at CPW.

For the past year and a half.. maybe more i cant be sure, I've been working as Band 1 Projects which was one way of saying I wasnt affiliated to any department perse. I just went round looking out each departments processes and formulate ways of optimising it mostly by automation.

Now in that I'm in the Main Projects team I, sadly, have to get everything approved my the department manager before i even look at it. And anything i work on has to be signed off.

Gone are the days when i could get a request for a quick script at 10 in the morning and have a working prototype by lunch.

It was kindda sad seeing all my Work In Progress (WIP) getting ported over and someone that seemingly doesnt know much about the projects assign priorities and deadlines to them.

Anyway that was 2 weeks ago and I'm happy to say I've closed off 6 of the 8 WIP and got my first assigned project on the new team done with 3 more added.

Dude hasnt lost his productive touch y'see. Anyways... watch out Charles Dunstone here i come.

Me and Music

The title for this post could have gone of 4 Ways with the other 3;

Me and [Loud] Music
Me and [Ghana] Music
Me and [In-Game] Music

Ok I'm worried about the loud music i listen to. I threw away the headphones that came with my Ipod and got me these Sennheisser Px200s. They're loud.... blazing and they're good for listening to music on the Tube cos you dont piss off other people.

I like my M.O.P and Evanescence (yeah you read right) eardrum splitting so it's good i got those. Now i know the dangers of listening too much loud music; blah blah your ears fder fder blah... well i never gave a shit cos one of my mantras is "D'u know anyone that's died from that?" the answer usually is "No". So I s'pose a variation of that question can be applied to the whole loud music thing.

Well i never knew anyone who'd lost thier hearing until the start of this semester. Adrian, a mate from uni came back this season with no hearing in one ear. Proper fucked up and he says the doctor says it's the loud music. Sigh

I've thought about not listening to loud music anymore but it's been 3weeks at least since uni started and i caught myself listening to Timbaland and Magoo's Drop feat. Fatman Scoop today with the volume turned up to max. Pray for me.

########

Now on to Me and Ghana music. I brough back a shitload of Ghanaian music on my return from Ghana. Where shitload equals over 7GB. Yeah so i'm sharing it on Shareaza and it's proving quite popular but it's frustrating cos i'm the only one sharing and there's too many people downloading from me and not bothering to share afterwards. Fucking leeches!

Anyway i was thinking about posting one track on here each week. Like one random track from the nearly (over? i'll count it later) 1000 tracks. I'm not quite sure how popular it'll be. But whatever happens i'm not quite sure my bandwidth will be able to handle it. So i'm holding that thought until i get a new server for dotfotos.com.

Another thing I also considered was replacing that old Mp3 Listing page (check sidebar) with my new list. It'll require me doing a lotta cleaning of tags an' shit. That is not possible at this moment in time though cos as y'all can see (check previous entry) I'm very busy. This wont help anyone much apart from informing them of what tracks i have so they can request it or some other thing.

Another more ambitious option will be to setup my own torrent tracker [dont ask me, ask google]. This was i can make sure people actually share what they get from me or they dont get any more from me. I havent read any manuals on runnig a torrent tracker so i might be talking autta my ass here and it might prove too much for me to do but it's the thought that counts right?

#######

I'm finding loadsa games with very good soundtracks. My Xbox has introduced me to really nice music namely from Halo and Jet Set Radio Future. I already had the Scissor Sisters album (the last album i bought) but it was still good to hear them singing when playing Fifa 2005.

I cant have enough of the Jet Set OST even though i've had it for over a year now.

Now lets see what kindda music Halo 2 has in store for me. Not too long to wait for it.

Taking matters into my own hand!

quite frequently, I get irritated with Faf's inconsistent blogging patterns. I complain to him ( the rare moments I spot him online) and he replies in a rather scathingly that I am a guest author for a reason.

So each time I blog once or twice and then he gets inspired. I swiftly retire to my day job and wait until I am summoned to the surface again by the pleas of the bored masses.

No more!

I have embraced this power and since this summer, Peter Parker has taught me that " With great power comes great responsibility"... I will therefore make u all a part of my sometimes interesting and often drama tinged days. As my therapist once told me, I need to vent frequently and to talk endlessly to delay the onset of my psychopathy.

Boring editor by day..... sexy vamp who torments men with her body by night!

Ghana Torrents Testing Begins

Barely two days have passed since my post regarding setting up my own Ghanaian/African oriented bittorent tracker and I've got an experimental one up and running.

I've got a various artistses album [Ghana Soundz - AFRO-BEAT, FUNK & FUSION IN 70's GHANA] seeding on it now and i need people that arent fazed by words like torrents and p2p etc to begin testing it.

The tracker can be found here:

http://faf.no-ip.info/tracker

Also I've posted a thread on Ghana Community Forums announcing this.

If you want a really quickie guide and what started it all and a bit of info on what you need to be downloading files from me head off to the pinned topic on the same forum

Of course you can also leave any comments you have here.

NOTE: There's only one file seeding (sharing) sharing right now. Please dont request i put any more on there right now. I'll only piss me off. It's experimental and all you'll get is that one file

If you're totally clueless after reading my two threads on GH Community Forums about torrents, i suppose you start with typing "What is a torrent" [with quotes] in google before you attempt anything

Now I get it...

Gone are the days when I went to chat rooms, onto forums etc... but I must say that I never really got into forums, cos unlike chat rooms, the conversation wasn't real time..... or so I thought.

In the process of trying to integrate myself into the Philly social scene, and also to get to know new people in and around Philly, I ventured to a forum on the urbanphilly website. I asked a few questions and made a few comments... and I was hooked. I eventually gave in, registered and began making remarks, conversation etc to random people that i might meet at parties- since we all talked about being attending. It was a bit of a thrilling experience, since most people really open up online and alter ego's abound.

But I am hooked and i have a few others i'll get hooked to... there is one hosted by the Roots ( yea the band) in philly which i stumbled onto once.. .its pretty tight, cos they tell u about all the "underground" parties etc....

Racing the Flush

I used to think it was just me that did this until i saw it mentioned in one of those forwarded chain mail.

What is racing the flush? Well not for the girls. It's when you flush the toilet halfway through taking a piss and you rush to finish off before the flushing is finished.

It's a boring thing, pissing. You might as well have fun doing it.
