Too Nice?

I think i'm too nice. I've been mentally catalouging all instances when random strangers people have picked me out of everyone in a room/bus-stop/bus/shop/train platform to ask me for help/change/directions. Whereas people usually are supposed to avoid as much eye contact as possible in most places they go... i tend to find people look at me and smile.

Sometimes my eraction reaction is to look behind me with the "you couldnt possibly be smiling at me" look. Well the good thing with all of this i guess is that i dont get any unwarranted attention from any guys... well when i do it mostly old men with walking sticks and a hunchback [maybe not the latter]. I suppose those dont count cos old people talk and smile at everyone right?

Sometime last week, i was sporting these new HUGE headphones (Sennheiser HD 280 Pro) i picked up to replace my stolen misplaced Sennheiser PX200s. They're almost comical and i do feel like a prat wearing them but they're my first high end headphones and boy are they worth it. It's like rediscovering your music all over again.

Anyway, back on track again. First day i wear these mofos and a coupla people stop me asking about it and whether they could have a listen. Most of these was at work with people i know by face but have never actually talked to, but then on the tube i get stopped by two girls that used the headphones as a premise to start a conversation then went on to ask where i live, whether i had a girlfriend etc.

The most recent instance happened on bank holiday weekend. Abe was craving Buger King so she drove us round to get us some. We'd received our order and were leaving when some other girl in the shop comes up to me, leans to the side and uses my arms to hold herself up to grab some ketchup satchets. All without saying a single word to me. Like i'm not even there. Grr.

So whaddya think? Maybe i should try to be mean? Scare people off a bit?

The Innocence of Michael Jackson

So I'm not at the trial and i hardly pay any attention to the proceedings cos i'm not much into TV these days. I've picked up bits and peices here and there. Namely on my PDA and in newspapers.

Anyway scratch that. Like most people i'd already made up my mind about his guilt or innocence way before the trial started. I was of the "No smoke without fire" disposition but these past past few days I suppose i've had a change of heart.

Either this guys is very selective of who he abuses or he's got some some major mind control thing going on. I'm thinking Jedi-mind control here... but i'll go with neither of the above. If three young men that have slept in his bed have come up to defend him... i say this pretty much exonerates him.

I know some people are going to come up with they're trying to protect their privacy, maybe they're traumtised argument but dude... if there was any better time to come up and say whether MJ had abused you, this would be the time.

So MJ's fucked up.... maybe with the Jesus Juice thing i.e plying a minor with alcohol. How many of us are guilty of that? I know for sure that things may have gotten exagerrated in court so given a 13yr old boy that probably smokes and drinks lager on their own a sip of wine may become "plying with alcohol" in court... but that's the situation he's put himself in.

Well just in case this entry wasnt clear enough, if i were on the jury... at the start of the trial, I was willing to find him guilty. Now I'm not convinced he's done anything worth being sent to jail for. Why? Because there doesnt seem to be any evidence of this and also, it is far easier to believe the family of the boy is doing it for the money than the alternative.

Anyone taking bets on the outcome of the trial? I put my money on MJ maybe being found guilty of the Jesus Juice bit and being let off with community service. At worst we get another "We are the world".

The sad bit of all this is that if he were to be found innocent, his ranch will be out of limits to any more kids. I'm sure he's not gonna get bitten 3 times.

Ignorance is Bliss?

What do y'all think about that phrase, Ignorance is Bliss?

Its a time old statement with many implications, but do we agree with it? Is it best to lie in a pool of pseudo-hunkydoryism while blinded by the impending doom that surrounds you? I guess you may think that it is situation dependent.. you'd rather not know that puffing on those cancer sticks will put you at increased risk of a heart attack, or maybe you'd rather not know if the world was to end tomorrow and you couldn't do a damn thing about it.

or not?

I say that ignorance is bliss while you're ignorant, however retrospectively your innocence has been robbed and although you may feel relentlessly bitter about it, you would rather face the harsh light of realism than surf in a pseudobubble thats just waiting to burst..
