Unbelievers and Our Kind

Live8. Do i believe it'll help? No. Am i even slightly trying anything to help it work? No. It seems apathy reigns supreme in everything for me these days.

There isnt a single issue i feel so strongly for or against. My Live8 stance is one one of several issues that do not bother me in one bit.

Being as i'm African, I s'pose most people will expect me to be pushing to further the agenda but i just cant find it in me. Something tells me it's just a phase the world is going through. Just like tamagotchi. It'll pass.

When wearing rubber bands on your arms is no more. When Africa is not on the agenda anymore. When some other stupid fad not dissimilar to burberry caps and gypsy skirts takes over.... I'll still find things to be apathetic about.

Been shopping for jackets of late. Walked into this shop that had some some nice cheap jackets so i pick up one and it's got one of those Che Guevera headshots at the back. First thing i thought was... "People will actually think i give a shit about what he stood for", Then i though, "I dont care what people think"... So yeah I have a new £10 Che Guevera jacket... and i dont feel one bit revolutionary.

So to recap, here are some things you wont see me doing anytime soon:

1. Wearing gypsy skirts with rusty-looking, tetanus-causing belts
2. Rubber wrist bands.
3. At an anarchists convention
4. Marching with placards for the right to choose to take one's own life
6. Running for office
7. Texting LIVE8 to 80224 (or whatever number)
8. Attempting to convert someone to some religion
9. Joining the Territorial Army.

I'll still be here when everyone's done doing their bit to make them feel good about themselves for a change. Mini St. Geldofs.

In Case of Emergency

The BBC reports of a campaign by East Anglain Ambulance Service to "ensure next of kin are alerted quickly in cases of emergency".

"All people have to do is store the word "ICE" in their mobile phone address books and put the next of kin's number against it," said a spokesman.

"This is the person to be contacted quickly 'In Case of Emergency' by ambulance and hospital staff."

Simple innit? Until you realise that people have me have their phones and PDAs passworded to prevent snoopers and thieves. If my phone is going to be stolen i might as well make it a bit difficult for whoever has it.

The phones are locked to the SIM for starters and if it happens not to be off while you pick it up, there's the software lock that prevents u from doing anything other than receiving calls.

ICE that!
