I look at the way they sit. If they're reading... wnat they're reading. What they're wearing. How many peircings you got. I'm sure we all do.
My speciality though is working out how clever people are... i think. Well i try!! Anyway... i was on the bus going to big bro's today when i caught sight of myself in the mirror.
I decided to analalyxe myself and found out i couldnt pin myself down with all the generalisations i normally use.
Here's me:
1. I'm in a hooded jacket. Normally i'd say... that's a hoodlum. Stay away from him... he'll stick a knife in you before blinking. He smokes pot, not cos he likes it but cos his friends do it. He's gonna pull out his fone any minute and start a loud conversation with 4-letter expletives dropping here and there cos he thinks it's cool
And then i noticed, ah! the jacket has a jacket at the back... hmm... what's it say? Oh some number's a URL [SKIM.com[1]]... ha! So he's a geek! He's just fronting with the hood. Maybe he's just trying to blend in. Ok.. so that derails all my analysis. He's just a guy in a hood
2. He's got earhones blaring Ante Up by M.O.P featuring Busta Rhymes[2] and Remy Martin. Oh... yeah. I like him already. I mean i like the song. It's always a good feeling to recognize a song in someone else's ears. Yeah... he's thuggin it up. Or maybe he's just an attention seeker. Well... so he's not a "quiet blender-in" at all.
3. He has a book. Oh maybe it's porn. Maybe it's a copy of "My first dictionary of pictures". Dumbass.... he cant ever be into books. He's too noisy. Maybe he knows his way round the street but he sure cant find his way through any book.
And then i notice... oh it's a Grisham book. The Summons. Ooh... and he's got his finger as a bookmark. Damn.... why cant you just fit in a sterotype? u CD! You do everything?
So that's about it... i couldnt pin myslef down. I came accross as all sorts. The geek bit and the reading bit counted me as intelligent... whiles the blaring music and the hood made me out to be a dumbo.
Anyway... that's why it's MY way of sizing people up.

Now u know i have an interesting couple of comments and i have formulated a theory based on this, and i also know u'd love to hear it, but guess what? I won't say a word.
Understand what u're sayin blud. You don't fit into any particular stereotypes.. you're a mixture. Thats what I tend to be. I dress differently day to day from casual to 'beck'-wear, I sometimes carry some of my medical books with me while wearing something less conservative in order to display a contrast. I play and like my music loud, but I'm black and I also love classical music. I have been told that I'm well spoken, and I don't live in Hackney/Lewisham/predominantly black area. I'd go on but I won't.
& thats 1 of the many reasons why I like you. You don't try conform to any particular stereotypes. You are who you are, a genuine, kind and intelligent young man.

As Abe's already explained. I'm doing a training session all week with 12 new recruits and 1 guy who's been temping for 6 months. I dont really have much time so here's a breakdown of what i think when i look at all of them: The former hairdresser who ...
