I know some of you seen this yet so here goes. This is in response to my post on 11/9 regarding 9/11:

Hello FAF. Writing as a friend, a person who cares for others, regardless of their background or heritage,an opinionated lady , who respects the opinions of others,a person not without faults, and a US citizen.I think you know all of the above is true. When I have strong feelings about something, I state them. Not here to debate you, just to simply state my feelings on your seemingly insensitive comments. I would not and never have said such an uncaring remark about anyone's loss of life, anywhere...especially innocent lives. The way a person, a family, or country grieves is their business. Thousands have died in several countries around the world, many in horrible ways.I know that, and I mourn for them. How many or how often any of these deaths are publicized is not in the ordinary citizen's control. There is an off button on every TV,or radio, and you can choose what you read. This is not only a matter of thousands dying, but also the first time US soil has been attacked since Pearl Harbor. This is a time of mourning, a time of learning, a time in our history. The US just happens to be a "super power", news worthy in the eye of the media and the world. That's just the way it is.It doesn't mean that all lives lost or problems anywhere else matter less, to caring individuals. The US gov't. and it's media are not perfect, as is no person. However, it is our shores that are inundated with immigrants seeking refuge, money, more freedoms, opportunities, and a better lifestyle for their children. Again, not a perfect place, but there is no Utopia. You could say that the US has commited unjust acts toward other countries through the years. I would have to agree, and be ashamed, not because I had a part in that, but because I am an American and as any loyal citizen of any land, I would not like my "name" to be associated with any wrong doing, but I that is not the issue here and now. We could go on for days about pros and cons of US gov't' policy and actions.Maybe I'm misunderstanding your meaning, or I don't appreciate the "joke", but your words seem plain to me. "I can't be bothered about their 9/11 thing"...."it's been a year".I was in Ghana last year when this happened. I saw and heard first hand all the sympathy, the concern and yes, the fear the people there expressed. Fear to think that if this could happen in the US, what else was possible anywhere in the world. They mourned the dead along with me, not only my friends there, but strangers in shops and on the streets, if they learned I was from the US. Even one of my friends from Ghana had visited the WTC in the past. The day of that visit could have been Sept. 11, 2001. Two men with families who attended my church died there, simply because they went to work on that morning.I am 60 miles North of NYC, 64 people from my surrounding area died there. I didn't know them, but I do mourn their deaths. You have never been to the WTC. Maybe you don't know that it was a great tourist area. Maybe you don't know that NYC is called the "melting pot" because the people there are not only citizens of the US, many are immigrants, from the world over, both legal and illegal living, working, making their way one day at a time in the US."It's been a year"....Statistics show that about a year after such a huge loss of life to a tragedy such as this is when "Post Traumatic Syndrome" and "Survivor Guilt" begins for those closely associated. Please just show a little compassion or be silent....Last but not least, maybe you won't bother about this either, another part of the 9/11 thing...a man named Emmanuel Akwasi Afuakwah..deceased.May he rest in peace.May all the innocent souls taken in every land rest in peace, especially those who have no one to mourn them or be bothered about their loss of life on this earth.Take care, FAF...your friend...Eme.

I'm not saying anything cos i think it'll be better to talk to her... one on one. I know she's right on almost every count but that's me. I'm insensitive at times and i havent quite got round to keeping it to myself.
