Ok, taking a break now from being gay and moving right along...

My 23rd birthday has come to pass withour incidence and i dont feel any older like i feared. I cant really remember what I did for my birthday, so when people ask, i just tell them "nothing". Dont worry people... i didnt get drunk and pass out or anything... I'm holding on to that for my midlife crisis in a coupla years time.

The one thing I wanted for my birthday though, i didnt get. Nah.. not leopard print thongs. (Thats gay!) ... i wanted Nail clippers/trimmers. I still dont have them so i suppose i'll wait till Christmas and keep harping on about it till someone gets me some damn nail clippers!!

My Sis is back in London with my niece Nana Pokua, cho i prefer to call "Number 3" because i've got too many nieces to keep track of their names. She only the third niece i have by my sister... my bro has 3, last time i checked anyway. (Sometime last week).

Tlaking about big bro... He finally made it back from his ill-fated trip to Ghana. Looks like the trip wasnt meant to be right from the start. He hadnt been back to Ghana in donkey's years and for some reason decided to go by some banana republic-esque charter airline flight.

The first problem encountered when he left home for the airport on his initial outward journey date only to find out the organiser of the flight was being accosted for debts owed to a few employees. he had to trek back home and try to find a flight the following week (on the same charter jet).

Luckily he didnt have to dish out more money. So he got there (Ghana) alright. Then came the news that the airline had folded. Meaning he was stuck in Ghana and had to book another flight home. A coupla weeks delay afterwards... he made it back.

The moral of the story? Dont fly FlyJet. (Not that you'd be able to anyway).

He came back with a few funny stories from Ghana (aside from the "It so hot you could....[insert funny text here]" type of jokes relating to the increasing spate of robberies in the cities (Accra and Kumasi). Only problem is that these jokes are only funny said in Twi.

If you can be arsed... follow me on the jump.

The Curteous Robber:
A lady whips out her phone in town to answer a call. She's not talked for half a minute when a man walks up to her, sticks a knife to her side and applies just about enough pressure to drive home the point (pun only slightly intended), then says:

Twi -- "Sister, mi pa wo kyéw, wo phone no wo wie aa... mee gye"
Translataion -- "Please Miss, when you're done with your phone... I'm taking it"

Hold that laughter. Cos wait... there's more.

The Subtle Persuaders

A man's walking down the road late at night. he sees a gang of young men coming towards him and stupidly doesnt cross to the other side of the road. They see his shoes (I wasnt there... but apparently they are (or is it were?) real nice.

One of them walks up to him and pointing at the shoes, says:

Twi -- "Bra, fri mu"
Translation -- "Sir, Get out of those"

Showing not inclination to violence or any indication of relenting on getting dude out of his shoes. They surround him and tell him in plain simple words that, there was no way he was leaving the place with his shoes on.

I suppose he got lucky. It's not like they wanted his wallet as well or anything. It just that sometimes u cant help it. You see some new shoes that REALLY gotta have.

Now as amusing as these scenarios are... you've gotta know that they actually happened. Isnt it great to see Ghana finally getting to the "you money or your life" stage of development? I know i am.

Whenever i trip GH-side though, i know i' gonna we walking around with nothing else on but a leopard print thong stuck up my arse.
